Crown Estates Block W4 - Mace

Logistics and hoarding design challenge for Leaner
The latest phase of the Crown Estates’s redevelopment of Regents Street,
Block W4, has begun.  Preserving the listed facades, the £210m scheme will combine 50,000sq ft of retail space with 140,000sq ft of Grade A office space.

Project managed by Mace, Leaner is providing site set-up, logistics, fire plans
and security, utilising our newly introduced remote monitoring CCTV cameras.
Logistics in this instance are particularly challenging; the area attracts a
considerable number of tourists and the two way street has been temporarily
reduced to one way access.  Additionally, Crown Estates are an exacting
client who insists upon immaculate presentation of the site in this prestigious location.  As this is Mace’s first undertaking for Crown Estates, it is vital that
we deliver an exceptional service.

The project, scheduled for completion at the end of 2013, presented a
particular challenge with regard to hoarding, which is currently being installed
in New Burlington Street and will also be required in New Burlington Mews,
once internal demolition has been completed.  Working with a structural engineer,
Leaner developed a design which takes account of height (3.6m) and wind loading.
